Happy Birthday Lil' Chick!

Mornin' hens!  Today is Lil' Chick's birthday!
As I was digging through my stamp collection I came across this adorable Penny Black stamp.  It has HAPPY written all over it to me.  Oh, I do love me some Penny Black images.  SUPER CUTE!

Ok, so I decided to keep the card simple and let the colorful image be the focus.  I just love the clean and simple look!  Ok, so I stamped the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest coverstock and colored it with my Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I added some Glossy Accents to the balloon and their eyes, and then I cut the image out using a stitched rectangle die.  To add a little interest, I scored the card base using my paper trimmer and the score blade, one half inch in from each of the four sides, creating a cross hatch look on the corners.  It's not that visible in the photo but it makes a barely noticeable frame around the image.  Oh man, I do LOVE this card!!   To finish, I tied on some baker's twine and adhered the image with some foam tape.  Ta-da!  Have I mentioned I loveeee this card??  Tee-hee!  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday!!

Happy Birthday Teresa!

Mornin' hens!
Yes I know, I've been pretty quiet for some time now huh?  Well, I decided to take a little time away from blogging so I could focus on ME!  While I do LOVE card making, the fun sort of ends up getting lost when it becomes expected of you.  So, I've decided IF I do make a card, it will only be for birthdays, at least for this year anyway.  Once I retire, I may make more then.  But for now, I'm trying to eat better, exercise more and focus on feeling GOOD about myself.  And you know what?  I DO!!  I've lost 17lbs and I feel fantastic!  Anyhoo, enough about me and onto today's card.

Today is my sister Teresa's birthday.  She's 60!!  Whoa!!!!  She's gonna love that I said that!  Ha-ha!  I couldn't think of a more appropriate stamp then this one, right?  OMG, is she a hoot or what? Who am I kidding, she sort of looks like me when I wake up!!  Pfffft!

I stamped the image onto some PTI speckled cardstock and colored her with my Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I cut the image out using my Nestabilities oval die and before removing the die, sponged some chalk ink around the edges.  You can see a tutorial of this technique HERE.  Then I cut a scalloped frame from some cute DP and mounted the image to it using foam tape.  I printed the sentiment using my FABULOUS Canon printer and adhered it to some coordinating DP with two small brads.  To finish, I tied some pink and white baker's twine around the card base and added some shine to her coffee cup with a Gelly Roll pen.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a FABULOUS Friday!!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Happy Birthday Mom!

Mornin' hens!
Today is my mom's 77th birthday!  Woot-woot!  I'm going to take a birthday cake over to her after work.  Pssst, now you know where I get MY sweet tooth from.  LOL!  Oh yeah, I can woof down a dozen donuts in one sitting!  Me love me some sweets!!  Tee-hee!

I've been wanting to use this window die for the longest time and as I was flipping through my dies, I decided I would use it today.  I cut three windows using the die and glued them all together for a little dimension.  Then after coloring the kitty and fussy cutting him out, I adhered him in the bottom left pane using foam tape.  I stamped the word BIRTHDAY first in black and then stamped HAPPY over top with Versamark ink and applied some white embossing powder.  I love how that turned out.  To finish, I die cut a heart out of some coordinating paper and then tied some twine around the middle.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a MAH-VELOUS Monday!!  {{{hen hugs}}}
